This Checklist has been put together for anyone who is planning or looking to plan a reunion. This will give you some guidance and answer some of your questions.

Please contact our Mission Advancement/Alumni office and request an updated class list. 

Time Frame – One Year Prior To The Reunion
  • Make your key contact: Sue Boulden

  • Set up reunion committee
  • Contact local Chambers of Commerce for maps, brochures, motel and restaurant listing, calendar events:

  • Arrange first reunion committee meeting
  • Consider a Facebook page for your class to keep the enthusiasm high, disperse information on the date and reunion activities. Most classes have gone totally paperless in inviting and planning their reunion
  • Coordinate the search for former classmates through Facebook
  • Decide date(s) and desired activities 
  • Decide where to hold event(s)/make calls to secure location and check with Sue at LPS to book LPS Round Table Room
  • Tours of the LPS campus are available: schedule with Sue
  • Set Up budget: estimate ticket price(s); attendance; expenses
  • Miscellaneous expenses include postage for mailings, printing charges for postcards, location rental costs, entertainment, etc.
  • LPS will provide mailing spreadsheet with class names
  • Prepare the first announcement and reservation information
  • Plan the committee’s “mailing meeting” and send out the first reunion notice to the classmates
  • Organize all paperwork into files
  • Divide duties/responsibilities among committee members
  • Check various web sites to locate “missing” classmates
  • Make a class gift to your Luther Prep
 
Time Frame – Six Months Prior To The Reunion
  • Update Class List with Sue at LPS
  • Consider a mailing for those not on Facebook
  • Prepare list of “missing” classmates to share on Facebook or via email
  • Plan and design other components that you want to include in the reunion activities such as nametags, memory album, class year display/nostalgia area, banners, video and/or slide show, campus tours, a chapel service.
  • Begin preparation of a memory album - or booklet with updated addresses (reserve one copy for LPS to archive and have  - if possible)
Time Frame – Three Months Prior To The Reunion
  • Another update of class list
  • Forward updated information to the LPS Mission Advancement Office c/o Sue Boulden
  • Make phone calls to class members that have not responded
  • Consider a gift for each class member attending reunion
  • Consider spirit items for prizes
  • Consider a class gift to your Luther Prep
 
Time Frame – One Month To The Big Celebration!
  • Continue phone drive
  • Update class list
  • Edit alumni histories for memory album
  • Make nametags (classmates and any guests they are bringing)
  • Create printed program
  • Prepare verbal program notes, include any special announcements
  • Buy awards and/or door prizes
  • Prepare photo collage, signs, displays
 
Time Frame – Two Weeks Before The Big Celebration!
  • Verify attendance information and print list of paid guests
  • Verify those volunteers who will man the “welcome home” tables
  • Order and/or prepare table decorations
  • Prepare final list of attendees
  • Make any other necessary signs, etc.
  • Give meal count and balance due to LPS caterer or restaurant/location
  • Confirm with location manager that all requested items are available including registration table, microphone, lectern, SmartBoard etc
  • Prepare reunion day checklist
    • Name tags                                           
    • List of attendees
    • Information update forms
    • Decorations, collage, signs, and displays
    • Programs
    • Door prizes/awards
    • Missing classmates list
    • Verbal program notes
    • Sign up form and assignments for the next reunion committee

  • Retrieve supplies at the end of the reunion…
 
The Reunion’s Over And You Are Already Looking Forward To The Next One!!!
  • Send thank you notes
  • Send out memory albums and photo books to those classmates who were unable to attend
  • Final accounting of reunion revenue/expenses
  • Post Photos or contact Sue Boulden for posting reunion photos on the web site’s Alumni pages on Facebook or our website- Email her photos and a brief summary of your great reunion!
  • Forward updated class address list to Sue Boulden for updating the LPS Alumni Database. If possible, send us the reunion book you made for our archives as well!
NPS 1959 Here for Homecoming
Many gathered on Friday, Sept 20 to experience an LPS HC Pep Rally, Tailgating, and Alumni Gathering. This group took a Saturday morning tour followed by lunch and a program. We were happy to have many of them stay for worship on Sunday in the LPS Chapel.
 
LPS Class of 1999
LPS grads from 1999 gathered in Watertown, on a Friday evening in June, to start the reminiscing. Saturday afternoon they worshiped in the remodeled LPS chapel with dinner and more catching-up Saturday night.
