Physical education courses are required in 9th and 10th grade. The class meets twice weekly and is conducted in the gym, weight room, and athletic fields.
Course Objectives
- Demonstrate proper stewardship of his/her body, the temple of the Holy Spirit.
- Foster an appreciation for his/her body as he/she experiences life though human movement.
- Promote an awareness and appreciation for the benefits of a physically safe and active healthful lifestyle.
- Experience success and enjoyment through a variety of athletic activities.
- Strengthen skills in judging speed, distance, force and weight and to coordinate them with body movement.
- Increase knowledge of techniques, tactics, and the rules of various athletic activities so that these may be used throughout life for wise and constructive use of leisure time when the person is either a participant or spectator.
- Develop cooperative participation in group and individual activities.
- Nurture an appreciation for good sportsmanship, self-discipline pride persistence and courage.
