Luther Prep Track and Field

Luther Prep competed for the track and field conference titles tonight in the MCC championship meet at Brookfield Academy. Both boys and girls finished second to Lake Country Lutheran, with the boys falling just one point short of the conference title. Complete results can be found here.
This was a challenging meet, especially with a conference title on the line. I was proud of how our athletes handled themselves. It was rainy and cold, but I didn’t hear anyone making excuses and in competition both teams showed up tonight. The girls team put together a complete team performance, winning four events and scoring points with nearly every entry. And the boys were so close. It’s hard to lose by just one point when you win 8 of 17 events and score points with every entry except one. Looking back there were probably 15 different places where we could have had something go just a little bit differently, but that just didn’t happen tonight. Special thanks to the seniors on both teams, both for their competitive success as they close out their regular season careers and also for setting such good examples of hard work and grit, day in and day out. That was on full display tonight as the seniors led the team with the solid performances we’ve come to expect from them, even though a couple of them were working through nagging injuries and one was coming off a stomach bug. It’ll be nice to have a few days to rest up and enjoy graduation festivities, and then we will turn our attention to the post-season.

Phoenix Finish Sixth at MCC Championship
The LPS Golf Team braved cold temps and strong winds to finish sixth at the Midwest Classic Conference Golf Championship held Monday at Washington County GC in Hartford. The Phoenix were led by Sophomore Caleb Fitzsimmons (86) and Junior Nathan Veenhuis (87). Seniors Micah Boggs (94) and Riley Dodge (102) finished out the scoring. LPS will compete in regional action next Tuesday at Delbrook Golf Course in Delavan.
