College Information with Prof. Dodge

Over the next couple of weeks, the Senior class will be involved in a series of college preparation-related activities. All Seniors will be meeting with Academic Dean David Dodge at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, September 3rd in the chapel. He will share a Getting Ready for College presentation that covers information on ACT and SAT, requesting transcripts from LPS, college application tips, requesting recommendations from teachers, and scholarship applications.

On September 4th and 5th, the Senior class will be meeting with their MLC admissions counselors.

On Sunday, September 14th at 6:00 pm, Seniors will attend a presentation by Prof. JoElyn Krohn, the Financial Wellness Coordinator at MLC, about completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The presentation will use MLC as an example, but the information shared about the FAFSA is applicable no matter what college or university you plan to attend. Parents are welcome to attend. The presentation will be live-streamed. A link will be shared closer to the date. The presentation will include information about creating a FSA ID username/password, FAFSA tips and changes, cost of attendance (COA), strategies for paying for college, grants/scholarships vs loans, and additional resources.
