Gala 2022

Luther Prep's 17th annual Gala event - WOW!

What an outpouring of support and joy throughout the evening! We increased the amount of seating from last year's sold out event and we AGAIN sold out this year.

Records broken:
  • We had 70 families joining us via Livestream the entire night! We hope to "see" more of you next year!
  • We set a Dessert Auction goal of $15,000 and joyfully watched our thermometer PASS that goal making this year a record breaking amount for our Dessert Auction!
  • We heard so many beautiful testimonials, we laughed at fun moments and in the end hearts generously gave a record breaking $155,000+ for the night.
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God PREPared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10

Our student volunteers for the evening watched in AWE at the outpouring of support people gave their school. Our students were blown away by what they got to witness.

Thank you to all the financial supporters and the prayer warriors that consistently keep this school's ministry and its students in their prayers.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever!

Gala FAQ

List of 6 frequently asked questions.

The Gala is an evening of: Christian fellowship, hors d'oeuvres, silent auction, elegant dinner,  and live entertainment. Included in the price of an in person admission is a small donation to support the mission of LPS. Our event is held on campus at Luther Prep, on a Saturday in April, from 5:00 pm. - 9:00 pm.

This event is not limited to this physical location. It is an event in which anyone can participate. Along with our in person event, our Silent Auction and Sponsorships have mobile capabilities, meaning anyone from any location can participate with us that evening, while also being able to enjoy a portion of the live program via our Livestream page.

Mission Advancement Offices were established at each of the four synodical ministerial education schools, as directed by the synod in convention in the summer of 2005. The four ministerial education schools are: Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon (training pastors), WI; Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN (training pastors, teachers, and staff ministers); Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, MI; and Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, WI (college prep education for future pastors, teachers, and lay leaders). The goal of these offices is to advance the mission of the schools.

This goal is achieved by supporting past alumni of the school, sharing the story of LPS through publications and presentations, and creating opportunities for people to worship God through the joyful stewardship of direct financial support.
Luther Prep has created this event to provide an enjoyable evening of fellowship for God’s people who have a heart for Luther Prep and to offer them the opportunity to support the ministry of Luther Prep with their gifts.

In turn, this is Luther Prep’s way to thank God’s people for supporting this ministry and to thank God for his continuing blessings he pours out on Luther Prep through his people.
The Gala is for any adult that would:
  • enjoy supporting Luther Prep’s ministry
  • enjoy being introduced to Luther Prep’s ministry
  • Pray: Pray that the Lord would continue to bless Luther Prep with faithful called workers to serve at Luther Prep; for parents who continue to make the loving but hard sacrifice to send their children to Luther Prep; for open minded students to consider going into the public ministry; and finally to pray in thankfulness for the many students that do choose to go into the public ministry and serve as our synod’s future pastors and teachers AND for the students that choose to go into other vocations and are prepared to serve their Savior in other ways and be strong leaders in their congregations.
  • Donate: Items that can be in our silent auction or live auction (more details on that below)
  • Volunteer: Your time to help us set up, be a volunteer for the event throughout the evening, or for clean up afterwards
  • Join us: Feel welcomed to join us as a guest, and please consider bringing another person that either knows Luther Prep, or that could be introduced to Luther Prep
  • Sponsor: We have various sponsoring opportunities for individuals, families, congregations, businesses or organizations to donate financially to our ministry.
  • Share: Invite others to participate in any of these ways above!

Any professional work that is done pro bono has limitations to what you can claim. From the IRS, they state:

Although you cannot deduct the value of your services given to a qualified organization, you may be able to deduct some amounts you pay in giving services to a qualified organization. The amounts must be:
  • Unreimbursed
  • Directly connected with the services
  • Expenses you had only because of the services you gave, and not personal, living, or family expenses” (IRS Publication 526)

Unfortunately the value of time or service is not tax deductible, but any certain expenses that you incur due to the pro bono work that are directly related to the charity are tax deductible.

For information regarding the expenses that can be considered tax deductible and the records you will need to keep to support those unreimbursed, out of pocket expenses resulting from donated services, please see IRS Publication 526 – Charitable Contributions.

Be sure to consult your tax advisor in regard to your specific situation.
