Concert Band

Luther Prep has a well-developed band program, with two band groups available to our students. The Symphonic Concert Band is the larger of the two groups, and it is open to all students interested in playing in a band. The Phoenix Wind Ensemble is occasionally assembled from students who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency on their instruments. Our bands are highlighted in both the Fall and Spring instrumental concerts, and they also perform in the school-wide sacred concerts in December and March and in the Commencement Concert in May. In addition, all our band students get to use their abilities in the Pep Band, which regularly performs for home football and basketball games.

Students in our band groups also have the opportunity to participate in smaller ensembles, such as the Jazz Band, Brass Choir, and various other ensembles that provide music for our chapel services. Our school also participates in the Wisconsin School Music Association’s Solo/Ensemble Festival each spring, providing students further opportunities to develop their personal instrumental skills. The band groups are currently directed by Prof. Ryan Stangl.
